We built Disconnect because we believe real connection requires trust — and trust requires honesty. This policy is written plainly because you deserve to know exactly what happens to your information.
Who we are
Disconnect is an early-stage app built to help people form slow, intentional connections. We are currently operating as a pre-launch product based in India. You can reach us at hello@disconnectapp.com.
What we collect
When you join our waitlist, we collect:
- Your name — so we can address you properly when we reach out
- Your email address — required, so we can notify you when we launch
- Your phone number — optional, only if you choose to share it, so we can reach you directly
- Your message — optional, what you wrote in the open-ended field
- Submission timestamp — recorded automatically
We do not use cookies for tracking, run advertising pixels, or collect any behavioural data on this website. The only third-party request is Google Fonts, which loads our typefaces.
Why we collect it
- To contact you when Disconnect is ready for early access
- To reach out directly (by phone or email) to gather feedback during our prototype phase, if you have opted in by sharing your number
- To understand, in aggregate, what brought people to us
We will never use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.
How we store it
Your data is stored in Supabase, a managed database platform. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to the Disconnect founding team. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist data until one of the following:
- You ask us to delete it (see below)
- We close the waitlist and migrate to the full app — at which point we will ask for your consent before transferring any information
- We wind down Disconnect entirely — at which point all data is deleted
Your rights
Regardless of where you are in the world, you have the right to:
- Access — ask us what data we hold about you
- Correct — ask us to fix anything that is wrong
- Delete — ask us to remove your entry entirely
- Withdraw consent — opt out of future communications at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@disconnectapp.com with your name and the email you used to sign up. We will respond within 7 days.
For users in the European Union (GDPR)
If you are based in the EU, our legal basis for processing your data is your consent, given when you submitted the waitlist form. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe we have not handled your data correctly.
For users in India (DPDP Act)
We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. You have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data. Grievances may be directed to hello@disconnectapp.com.
Children
Disconnect is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted their information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively change how we use data you have already submitted without your consent.
